Habitat

Living in rivers, floodplain, swamp, and brackish water with a pH range of 6-6.4 and a temperature of 24 C-28 C.

Distribution

These fish are found in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. The distribution area in Indonesia is in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Java.

Food

This fish is a type of carnivorous fish that eats insects, small fish, shrimp, and litter as preys.

Reproduction

It spawns all year round with peak spawning period at the beginning of the rainy season. Fecundity ranges from 1,200-3,000 eggs.
