Hook and line
Description
Hook- and- line fishing gear is similar to a fishing rod, using nylon strings, hooks, and rods made of wood such as twigs. With a rod length of approximately 1 m and nylon string size number 2 1 - 1.5 m long tied at the end. This nylon string is attached to a hook whose size is adjusted to the target fish caught. It is classified into hooks and lines fishing gear based on FAO fishing gear with ISSCFG code 09.3.0.
The operation of the hook and line fishing gear uses live fish bait, bycatch, shrimp, and burnt coconuts. The hook and line fishing gears are plugged in on the banks of rivers or floodplain area and left unattended. Usually, fishers set some hook and lines so that they get a lot of catches. The catch will be checked every 6 hours or more according to the number of units installed. This fishing gear can be operated around the clock. The fish usually caught are mystus nemurus, channa striata, channa micropeltes, and other types of carnivorous fish.
