dc.description | Gillnets are fishing gear that is widely used in inland waters. Made from nylon strings strung together to form a net. The size of the mesh is adjusted according to the target fish caught. It can be operated permanently by tying the end of the net to a piece of wood stuck in the riverbed or by installing a device in the middle of a river or swamp using an additional float. And it can also be operated by drifting one end of the net in a river with a slow current. The caught fish can be all types that pass through the net and the gills get caught in the net. In the classification of FAO fishing gear, nets are included in the gillnet fishing gear category, which is a tool that catches fish using nets to trap fish in the gills. The set gillnets code is ISSCFG 07.1.0 and the drift gillnets code is ISSCFG 07.2.0. The length of one unit of net is between 100 - 200 m, with a mesh width of between 1.5 – more than 2 inches. | en |
