Hook- and- line fishing gear is similar to a fishing rod, using nylon strings, hooks, and rods made of wood such as twigs. With a rod length of approximately 1 m and nylon string size number 2 1 - 1.5 m long tied at the end. This nylon string is attached to a hook whose size is adjusted to the target fish caught. It is classified into hooks and lines fishing gear based on FAO fishing gear with ISSCFG code 09.3.0.
The operation of the hook and line fishing gear uses live fish bait, bycatch, shrimp, and burnt coconuts. The hook and line fishing gears are plugged in on the banks of rivers or floodplain area and left unattended. Usually, fishers set some hook and lines so that they get a lot of catches. The catch will be checked every 6 hours or more according to the number of units installed. This fishing gear can be operated around the clock. The fish usually caught are mystus nemurus, channa striata, channa micropeltes, and other types of carnivorous fish.

Gillnets are fishing gear that is widely used in inland waters. Made from nylon strings strung together to form a net. The size of the mesh is adjusted according to the target fish caught. It can be operated permanently by tying the end of the net to a piece of wood stuck in the riverbed or by installing a device in the middle of a river or swamp using an additional float. And it can also be operated by drifting one end of the net in a river with a slow current. The caught fish can be all types that pass through the net and the gills get caught in the net.
In the classification of FAO fishing gear, nets are included in the gillnet fishing gear category, which is a tool that catches fish using nets to trap fish in the gills. The set gillnets code is ISSCFG 07.1.0 and the drift gillnets code is ISSCFG 07.2.0. The length of one unit of net is between 100 - 200 m, with a mesh width of between 1.5 – more than 2 inches.

Pengilar is a fishing gear with the working principle of trapping fish so they can't get out. The main material for making it is bamboo or rattan. The entrance of the trap is commonly called “injab” and another escape vent to take the fish caught. Because it has a shape like a taro leaf, this tool is also often called a taro leaf trap. It's one of the environmentally friendly fishing gears, with the ISSCFG classification code 08.2.0, categorized as trap fishing gear.
To attract fish into the trap, worm bait, bycatch, and other baits are used. The bait is placed in the bag and hanged in the trap. The trap will be checked twice a day to ensure the fish caught still survive. It's usually operated in shallow waters, on the banks of rivers, swamps, valleys, and canals. Part of the body of the trap is covered with grass, tree branches or something else to cover the t o o l . Fishing gear with a cone shape, which is made of nylon or polyethylene thread. On the bottom is weighted from tin as a whole. The length of the mesh between 4 - 6 m, with mesh of 0.5 - 2 inches. Equipped with a rope to pull and lift the nets. In the classification of FAO, this fishing gear is classified into the falling gear category, namely the gear that is dropped, with the code ISSCFG 06.1.0
It's operated in shallow waters on the outskirts of main rivers, tributaries, swamps and lakes, the bottom of the water which is free from wood waste or wooden stumps. The catches are of various types and sizes, such as giant prawns, mystus nemurus, trichogaster, h e l o s t o m a t e m m i n c k i i , a n a b a s testudineus, and other types of fish.
The cast nets are arranged and thrown in such a way so that when they are thrown the nets will open and form a circle. As soon as the net touches the surface of the water, it will immediately sink because of the ballast attached. Then, the nets are pulled and lifted by the rope that has been attached to the nets.
