Description
Habitat

Living in rivers, peatland, acidic waters, and slow water flow with a pH of 3-6.5, an aquatic environment where there are a lot of submerged grass or aquatic plants.

Distribution

These fish are found in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. In Indonesia, the distribution area is in Sumatra, Bangka, and Kalimantan.

Food

It's a type of omnivorous fish species which preys on zooplankton, insect larvae, crustaceans, worms, organic detritus, and aquatic plants.

Reproduction

It has a spawning pattern throughout the year with peak spawning period at the beginning of the rainy season. The fecundity of serandang fish ranges from 1,000 to 2,275 eggs.
