dc.descriptionHabitat The eel is a catadromous species, so its initial habitat starts from the deep sea. After hatching, they will follow the flow of sea currents to migrate to river mouths. From river mouth, the type of eel A. bicolor will live in river bodies, swamps, rice field irrigation, canals, waterways connected to sea waters, and up to lakes. Distribution The type of fish can be found in several countries: Africa, Oceania and Asia. In Southeast Asia this fish is found in Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Viet Nam and Thailand. In Indonesia, its distribution area is along the west coast of Sumatra, the south coast of Java, Bali, NTB, NTT, along the east coast of Kalimantan, Sulawesi waters, Maluku to Papua. Food It is a type of carnivorous fish that preys small fish that fit the size of its mouth, shrimp and crab cubs. Reproduction The fish gonad maturity is at a size of more than 50 cm with an estimated age of more than 3 years. Not all eggs are released during the spawning process which are placed on submerged stems. The peak of the spawning season occurs in the dry season.en
